I always get excited everytime I planned to have a trip abroad and get
fulfilled every time my passport will be chop. Hehe.. Weird isn’t it?
Going to Bintan is a long planned trip and finally last Christmas in 2009, I got the chance to pursue this trip. It was actually a double purpose trip and I’m glad it was quiet a fulfilling one. Bintan is a small island in Indonesia wherein you can enjoy a relaxing view on the beaches. It was a 3D/2N stay in 3 different resorts in Bintan, specifically Bintan Agro Resorts and Spa, Yasin Bungalow and Cabana Resorts.
All information was all gathered with the help of uncle Google and some forums online. That’s why it would also be a great help if you will also consider my itinerary, here’s how:
I bought our ferry ticket in Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, you can actually choose from the many ferry services going to Bintan but I chose to avail with Indo Falcon bound to Tanjung Pinang. I opted to bought this ticket because it is much cheaper than going to Bintan Resorts (don’t get confused, this is also a ferry terminal but usually expensive). It was an 8:50am (Singapore time) boarding time from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (TMFT) to Tanjung Pinang. From Tanjung Pinang, We were fetched by a bus from Yasin Bungalow wherein we have reserved online. Pick up service charge is IDR 180.000 / way / 5 seats car. Usually takes around 50 minutes for one way.
*How to go to Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal – take the bus no. 35 from bedok bus interchange

Ferry ticket reservation really just a reservation. You can opt to pay in advance or just pay half first then you can pay the balance upon your travel date. Ticketing office will prepare first your boarding pass and embarkation card. No worries though because once reserved, it is really reserved for you.

For the accommodation, I did my reservation online and have paid only 30% out of the total payable through paypal. Though communication and reservation are done through emails they are quiet reliable.

Accommodation was a bit laid back style. It was just a typical room made from nipa hut in Yasin Bungalow with a Double Gazebo Bungalow type room: 1 double bed per room @ USD 20/unit. No aircondition room but they provided fan and mosquito net. You can even ask for a mosquito killer.
Currency in SGD, IDR, USD and some major Credit cards such as Visa and Master Cards are widely accepted but we find it interesting to used their own currency because it feels like a millionaire even for a while(hehe..) because of the very economical currency.
Though this travel was a budgeted, I had fun with the sun and the sand. I’ve hopped-on in the 3 resorts, free transportation of course, just need to inform reception in advance for them to check the availability of the transpo. Some of the facilities that we enjoyed was: 2 swimming pools in Bintan Agro Resorts and Spa, Sun Moon Resto wherein it is so basic but I found it enjoyable to feel the cool breeze of the night air then grab some beer, and have a relaxing swim in the white sand of Cabana Resort. Billiards, kayak, flying fish, volleyball, karaoke etc are all available for a grab.
Traveling is always been fun and this one is definitely worth remembering. I will be back soon if be given the chance.
Happy Travel Everyone!
