Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

I looked forward to this trip since I am very much excited to see the very famous Petronas Tower. Last August of 2008, I’ve finally saw the amazing twin tower of Asia.

It was an impressive work of a wondrous mind of an individual who made Petronas as it is. Petronas tower is located at the heart of Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. There are a lot of ways to get there but I took the route from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur via Aeroline bus. It was approximately 6hours ride from the bus terminal of Aeroline in Vivo City in Singapore. The aerobus ride was a nice experience as well since it was like a first class service for a bus, with a well-attended service with bus stewardess. Meal was included with a lot of choices of drinks: coffee, tea, juice or softdrinks among others. You can even ask for a blankie if you want to take a short nap along the road. We only made 2 bus stops, which was in Singapore immigration and then in Johor Bahru immigration, after that it was already a smooth ride to KL.

Upon arriving in KL, the petronas tower was the one who welcome us with its beaming lights and glam. It was just a few steps away from where we were dropped off. Numerous tourists were there also to take some pictures; we even have a hard time capturing the whole image of the tower without cutting the edge of it. Finally, we made it though!  If you want to experience to cross the bridge of the tower you need to be there early morning to avail of the free tickets distributed in the ground floor.

During our trip, it was also the celebration of the founding day of KL so a lot of activities are happening around. Fireworks and parades were present on that event. I have also observed that Malay are more like Filipinos, they love ukay2, which I find myself enjoying to shop in the famous Pentaling Street in Chinatown. Plenty of goods to choose from: bags, shades, clothes, shoes and small stuff. Do not also forget to haggle from the prices. We also visited Times Square mall where a wide array of shops that you can window shop, there was also a 3D movie house and entertainment center inside the mall.

Motorcycles are also everywhere, it is their no.1 transportation. But for tourist like me, LRT line, taxi (they call it TEKSI), and bus (they call it BAS) are to choose from. Just like in any other LRT line, just need to purchase ticket card from the booth station. Unlike in Singapore, English is not widely use by the locals and lack of maps and directional instructions in the public area. So better have your map ready with you wherever you go.

Our stay in one of the hotels in Jalan Petaling was quiet satisfying with its tag price. It was not a luxury hotel but since most of the time we are out in the hotel to roam around its already good enough. Buffet breakfast was included in our package rate it was served 6am-10am. Staffs are also very accommodating and polite enough to answer our queries even for a short direction.

It was not a very enjoyable trip since we only visited few of the tourists spots but I would love to go back soon if be given the chance. Enjoy Malaysia!
